The Cilest pill is 99% effective in preventing pregnancy when used correctly. It uses a combination of two types of synthetic female hormones to prevent pregnancy in three ways. Each pack contains three strips of 21 tablets, to be taken continuously throughout three weeks of your menstrual cycle. This is then followed by a seven-day break, after which a new pack of Cilest pills should be immediately started.
Doctors also recommend Cilest to clear up bad acne and cases of endometriosis, a condition where parts of the womb lining grow on the organs outside the womb and cause severe pain in the lower abdomen, back and pelvis. It has also been suggested that premenstrual syndrome and period pains occur less frequently in women who go on the Cilest pill.
One of our doctors can write you a prescription for Cilest today should you choose to order online. If approved for use, our licensed pharmacy will dispense your medication and accompanying patient leaflet promptly and with care. Royal Mail delivers all orders by 1pm the following day in protective padded envelope. You can even order to your workplace should you not be able to sign for your Cilest tablets at the time of delivery.
There are two types of contraceptive pill. Cilest is known as a combination oral contraceptive pill (COCP) as it contains both an oestrogen and a progestogen, which are artificial female hormones. These key ingredients work to prevent pregnancy in three ways: by stopping a women’s ovaries releasing an egg during the menstrual cycle; thickening the cervical mucus to prevent sperm from entering the womb; by changing the womb lining so that an egg cannot grow there.
For immediate protection start taking the Cilest contraceptive pill on the first day of your period. Cilest should be taken for 21 days of your cycle, followed by a seven day break. After the seven day break take the first pill in a new pack.
If necessary, you can also start taking it up to the fifth day of your cycle without requiring additional contraception as a precautionary measure. However, this may not provide immediate protection for women with a short menstrual cycle who start as late as the fifth day of the menstrual cycle. In this instance, a barrier method such as a condom is recommended during sex for the next seven days.
The Cilest contraceptive pill can be used by the majority of women who seek a long-term reliable method of birth control. It is available for women aged 18 and above, although you can not use Cilest if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
Cilest pills may not be prescribed to you if you are 35 years of age or above and smoke, or if you have the following conditions: hypertension; heart, liver or circulation problems. There are certain medications that may produce side effects when combined with the Cilest contraceptive pill. Please speak to your doctor or read the patient leaflet below to learn more about how Cilest interacts with other medications.
The most common Cilest side effects are nausea, vomiting, headaches, breast tenderness, weight fluctuations, fluid retention and vaginal thrush. During the seven day pill-free period you will experience a withdrawal bleed, which means your body is eliminating the contraceptive hormones from your system. Additional protection against conception during the seven pill-free days is provided by the hormones that are already in your system.
You can obtain Cilest on prescription within 24 hours of placing an order. On selecting your quantity of pills you must answer a short set of medical questions set by our doctor, who needs to be sure that you are suitable to use Cilest. If the doctor agrees that you can use Cilest the pharmacist will be notified immediately, and your medication will be dispensed with due care.
Your medication will be delivered to your chosen address by Royal Mail delivery the next working day, usually by 1pm. Please note that orders placed on a Friday or the day before a Bank Holiday may not arrive until the next working day. Our Patient Services team are on hand should you wish to place an order by phone, or to answer a query about ordering online at 121doc. You can also reach us by email or Live Chat.
