Dapoxetine is a medicine used to treat premature ejaculation in men. It is administered orally at 30mg and 60mg under the trade name Priligy. This medication is available on prescription only for people who have a frequent inability to control their ejaculation during sexual activity. Priligy dapoxetine pills are intended for use 1-2 hours prior to intercourse and can be taken with or without food.
Research into male sexual disorders suggests that as many as 1 in 3 men suffer from premature ejaculation at some point in their lives. Even though this condition is common, very few treatment options remain at hand. In tests, Priligy has been able to elongate sexual performance by 200 – 300%.
Dapoxetine was created by Eli Lilly and Company as an antidepressant. Eli Lilly sold the patent to pharmaceutical manufacturer Johnson & Johnson in December 2003. In 2004, dapoxetine was submitted to the Food and Drink Administration (FDA) in the form of dapoxetine hydrochloride by the ALZA Corporation and its parent company, Johnson & Johnson, for the treatment of premature ejaculation. In 2009, Priligy dapoxetine received approval in Sweden, Finland, Austria, Portugal, Germany, Italy and Spain, then again in 2010 for use in the UK.
Dapoxetine is the active ingredient used in Priligy. The medicine is known clinically as a Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitor (SSRI). It works by stopping the re-absorption of serotonin in the body’s neural cells. When a man ejaculates, a reflex message is sent down from the brain to the nervous system. On occasions serotonin delivers these messages cells, but it is re-absorbed too quickly, which can cause both depression and premature ejaculation. By delaying the re-absorption of serotonin, a man is more capable of controlling his ejaculation.
Priligy is generally well tolerated in most users, however, as with many prescription medications, side effects can occur from time to time. The more common side effects, which are said to affect just 1 in 10 users, are: dizziness, nausea and headache. Less common reported side effects from dapoxetine include: irritability, anxiousness and insomnia. 1% of users reported blurred vision, dilated pupils and high blood pressure, although the chances of experiencing these side effects when using dapoxetine are extremely low.
Dapoxetine pills have only recently been approved for sale in the UK, thus some doctors still prefer to recommend more traditional methods of non-medicinal treatment for men suffering with PE. Alternate methods of treatment include: counselling, couples therapy, low dosage antidepressants and self-help techniques that can be practiced during sex and foreplay.
Online clinics and pharmacies are also known to provide genuine dapoxetine tablets, under the trade name Priligy. Patients who request this treatment must fill out an online consultation form, which a doctor will then check through to determine whether you are suitable to use Priligy dapoxetine.
