Throat surgery not enough to stop Adele from smoking

smoking after throat op is dangerous

As reported by premier celeb news publication Gather.com, popular English singer-lyricist Adele is yet to end her smoking habit despite undergoing throat surgery not too long ago.

Citing an eyewitness account, Gather.com notes that the famed singer was found smoking outside a Florida eatery on New Year’s night. The online mag reminds that Adele recently went under the knife to get rid of a non-malignant tissue growth in her vocal cord.

This was not the first time the voice behind Someone Like You and Rolling in the Deep was seen lighting up following her microsurgery, the source informs, saying that Adele was earlier spotted taking a drag inside her car immediately after she returned to the UK following surgery.

Medical experts urge people to quit smoking after an operation, cautioning that cigarette smoke can up the risk of post-surgical infection and can also weaken the immune system. An addiction to nicotine can create further troubles for professional singers like Adele because it can affect the pitch of their voice, making it coarser, Gather.com notes.

The 23-year-old artist is not too keen to listen to any stop smoking advice as she believes she had a terribly “grim” and “boring” time coping with nicotine withdrawal symptoms when she stopped for a couple of months after suffering from laryngitis.

According to the source, the British singer, by refusing to quit smoking for good, is doing nothing constructive for her career as well as her health.
