Based on an exclusive interview with author Evelyn Resh, Fox News assures that age should not be a barrier for women who wish to extend their sex lives.
Ms. Resh, who is also a certified primary caregiver, says that it is perimenopause not menopause that is to be blamed for low libido. She further explains that women suffer from several sexual problems 2 to 10 years before menopause. Sexual side effects like painful intercourse, hot flushes and worsening PMS affect sexual desire in perimenopausal women, learns the US news channel.
Clearing the myth about menopause, Evelyn Resh tells the Fox News that only few women notice symptoms of forthcoming menopause, while the others hardly bother. Not denying the fact that menopause leads to female sexual dysfunction (FSD) in some, Ms. Resh informs that she was told by several women that their sexual desire has increased after menopause as the risk of pregnancy is not there.
When asked by the American news channel about how menopause affects libido, Ms. Resh says if a woman is in good health and has a good relationship, menopause can’t affect her sex life.
Author of upcoming book, “Women, Sex, Power, and Pleasure: How Living a Pleasurable and Powerful Life Will Give You More of the Sex You Want” says perimenopausal women can hope to bring sparks back to their lives by taking adequate sleep, exercising, eating properly and using hormone therapy.
It may be noted that Intrinsa patches, along with oestrogen therapy, can be helpful in treating orgasm problems in perimenopausal women.
