herpes risk more with unsafe sex

People in Ireland have not let the present danger of sexual disease and infection being passed from one person to another put a stop to exploring new ways to be intimate, reports the Cork Independent.

A recent Durex survey demonstrated that sexually active Irish men and women love to try different sex positions. Use of various sex toys and gizmos is also becoming more popular in Ireland in recent times, the Cork Independent notes.

The Dublin-based tabloid newspaper says the safe sex campaign by the condom manufacturer churned out some surprising results related to the sex lives of Celtics. Of 1016 men and women surveyed, 16% said they indulged in erotic exchanges via their mobile phone and 20% admitted to sleeping with a stranger, the Cork Independent notes.

The tabloid further reveals that role play and strip tease are now embedded into the sex culture of Ireland with 20 out of 100 participants admitting to taking their clothes off for their partners and 19% of them reportedly engaging in role play.

Amidst all the bedroom activity, adherence to safe sex practices has not taken the backseat altogether, the tabloid takes note of, saying that 53 out of 100 participants said they never forget to use a condom whilst having intercourse. However, only 7% of the adults go for routine STI screening – a scenario that is somewhat “concerning”, the Cork Independent quotes the brand manager of Durex.

The survey report also shows the Celts are well aware of the potential danger of unsafe sex. When queried, 16% of the participants expressed their concern for HIV and 11% said they feared genital herpes and genital warts.
