As reported by Oxford Mail, the decision to restrict erectile dysfunction pill use to twice a month has now triggered an adverse impact on the sex lives of many men, notably those surviving prostate cancer.
Simon Lord, a 52-year-old man from Wallingford, has complained of unprofessionalism on the part of the NHS, saying that rationing of erectile dysfunction medicines has forced him to cut the number of Cialis pills he was used to taking after he had undergone prostate cancer surgery little over a year ago.
Father of three children Mr Lord tells the British tabloid in an interview that he had no other option but to treat prostate cancer and use Cialis on a weekly basis to beat erection problems. The recently enforced restriction on free availability of ED pills has been a major setback for men like him, Oxford Mail notes, observing that there are at least 50,000 impotence sufferers in the county of Oxfordshire alone.
Strongly condemning the NHS decision to ration Viagra and other pills in the category of PDE-5 inhibitor drugs, Mr Lord says a large percentage of the elderly male population would prefer to remain silent and suffer in desperation for not being able to enjoy their sex lives.
Commenting on reports of some men showing their dissent over the rationing decision, NHS Oxfordshire spokesperson Emily McDonald says the decision – recommended by the South Central Priorities Committee – was put to use after careful consideration of a number of factors, including cost of healthcare in local NHS bodies and affordability of treatment.
