A primary caregiver, working in Leeds Community Healthcare NHS Trust, was awarded a top medical award for her dedicated service given to the national NHS staff flu vaccination campaign, reports the Yorkshire Evening Post.
Jo Snellin, a nurse who helped patients fight off the influenza virus, was honoured with the award at the NHS Employers National Conference in Liverpool, notes the daily newspaper.
Acknowledging her contributions, the NHS rewarded the district nurse with the title of “flu fighter”, the tabloid learns. The England-based newspaper notes that 28 people from across the country including Jo were awarded for their work towards flu awareness.
According to the reports of Yorkshire Evening Post, Jo Snellin helped combat flu by encouraging staff to take flu shots, spreading awareness among people and clearing their myths regarding the vaccine.
Jo after receiving the award from Dean Royles, the director for NHS Employers, said addressing the audience that receiving this award was overwhelming, but the felling that she was of some help to her patients was much fulfilling, notes the evening daily.
Appreciating Jo’s efforts, Rob Webster, chief executive of Leeds Community Healthcare NHS Trust, said that Jo has done a great job by spreading awareness about flu jabs and the recognition she has received was well deserved.
He further added that for the betterment of community, we urge our employees to go for the influenza vaccine and encourage others as well, reports the daily evening publication.
Yorkshire Evening Post notes that for flu treatment doctors in Leeds advice their patients to stay inside home, drink lots of water and take medication as soon as symptoms are seen.
