The Boston Globe reports that a Utah-based man has been taken into federal custody after he was caught selling fake erectile dysfunction treatment resembling Viagra, issuing strong warnings against drug piracy.
‘Size Matters’, ‘Stiff Nights’, ‘OMG’ and ‘Natural Wow’ were some of the duplicate erectile dysfunction and male enhancement supplements Kelly Dean Harvey was selling despite FDA warnings that some of them are not safe and might cause adverse health conditions, including sudden drop in blood pressure, vision problems, cardiac disturbance, and even death.
The FDA, along with different drug regulatory authorities from other countries, has long been battling counterfeit impotence drug rackets, in an attempt to ensure proper treatment to all. If it’s Viagra, it should contain sildenafil as its active ingredient for it to meet the FDA standards of safety and reliability. Unfortunately, the impotence drugs seized from Mr. Harvey were found containing sulfoaildenafil, a substance parallel to sildenafil and not approved by the FDA.
The accused bagged a huge amount of money between 2006 and 2010 after he illegally traded raw materials from China to manufacture the fake erectile dysfunction drugs, the Boston Globe informs, adding that Mr. Harvey might have to face stiff penalties under the existing federal laws.
