Female sexual dysfunction may be a serious issue, but a newsreader covering the topic has brought a smile to the faces of internet users on sites such as YouTube, after making a cringe-worthy gaffe live on air.
The ABC news man, Michael Hill, made his comment at the end of a story about how a new g-spot injection is being used to treat female sexual dysfunction.
After his colleague had spoken of how a lady she had been talking with would “never miss her g-spot appointment again,” Hill turned to her and asked the bizarre question: “so, she’s enjoying penis a bit more is she?”
A moment of awkward silence followed, in which Hill’s colleague seemed as though she did not quite know what to say. “She’s enjoying her, her, sex life a bit more. Thank you Michael,” she finally blurted out, before swiftly moving on to the next topic. Within hours, the clip was receiving plenty of hits on YouTube, and it has now surpassed 30,000 hits on the website.
In terms of the actual news story, it was looking at “The G-shot” – a collagen injection that some are saying can help women to overcome female sexual dysfunction. One woman said that her love life had “improved so much”.
While this collagen treatment may help some women, it is unlikely that it would be recommended as a general solution for women with female sexual dysfunction. The condition can be caused by a range of psychological or physical causes, and not all of these are to do with the g-spot.
As for Hill, despite his new found internet fame, he insists that there was nothing wrong with what he said. In an email to a website, he wrote: "The topic invites discussion, debate and commentary. Nothing wrong with also 'injecting' or 'inserting' a little humour ... even for the prudish to the prurient!"
